The Control Zone

This is a Beginner level drill in which we teach young players the proper stance when controlling the ball.
The control zone is the width or distance between a player's shoulders. This is the area in which a player controls the ball while moving.
Each player should have a stick and a ball to perform this exercise.

The Drill:
Players should take a regular stance with their feet just over shoulder, width apart and their left hand exactly in front of them. With a slight bend forward the player should then drop the ball in front of him. Now, the player should grip the stick properly and then trap the ball. This drill helps the player to learn how to handle, pass and shoot the ball.Practice Duration:
The drill should be repeated at least seven times each for handling, passing and shooting.The drill should be continued for at least two months.
Expected Outcome:
This drill teaches the youngsters about their control zone and lays down the basic foundation of handling, passing and shooting the ball.
